I am a big fan of Takato Yamamoto’s art, so you can imagine my reaction when someone posted this old Meta ad in an oldschool thread. Too cool! <3

eiskobold:

One of the most misjudged Lolita items is the apron.

Lolita fashion fights a long war against the stigma being a costume and I am sure this will going on forever. So the apron is something that is in this fashion since the beginnings and the brands still release dresses and skirts with it. But somehow an apron is something that screams costume to the most of the Lolitas.

In my opinion this is wrong thinking. Lolita fashion is influenced by historical fashion from various eras and of course aprons have a big role in this too. In history aprons where a piece of clothing that covered the main clothing and keept it clean. In other cultures an apron (involving national costumes) was a sign of your status.

I like aprons with Lolita fashion and it would be so sad if it would end as an “ita-item”. Show me your love for aprons! :)
